The Mesh485™ system, based on MeshScape™ software, is the first complete wireless sensor networking system developed specifically to wirelessly network RS-485 building automation sensors. The Mesh485 system delivers a suite of software and hardware components and provides a low-power, self-configuring networking protocol with redundant paths that is efficient, responsive, and resilient. The hardware modules are specifically packaged
to integrate with industry-standard controllers and thermostats.
The ad hoc mesh architecture created by the Mesh485 system provides a highly reliable, extremely robust network that is highly fault-tolerant since each sensor node has multiple paths back to the gateway and to other nodes. If a sensor node is obstructed, the network will re-configure itself around the obstructed node automatically.

The Mesh485 system enables OEMs to quickly develop and deploy sensor networks to enhance current offerings and to develop new offerings not possible before. Mesh485 lets you develop applications that leverage existing RS-485 infrastructure without requiring any wiring. As a result, installation costs are dramatically lowered, applications can be installed in previously inaccessible buildings, and new markets and revenue streams are opened up.
Energy Management and Building Automation Applications
Mesh485 has been integrated into energy management applications by leaders in the building automation and energy management systems market including WebGen Systems, TCS/Basys, and Tridium. The Mesh485 energy management modules enable monitoring and control of building thermostats over a wireless network and replaces the RS-485 bus typically used between the controller and associated thermostats, eliminating the need for running cables between devices.
