Millennial Net Co-Founder Honored with ISA's Douglas H. Annin Award

Sokwoo Rhee Recognized as one of the Industry’s Technology Innovators for His Pioneering Work in Wireless Mesh Networking

Burlington, Mass.--August 9, 2004--Millennial Net, Inc., the leading developer of self-organizing, wireless sensor networking systems, today announced that ISA - the Instrumentation, Systems, and Automation Society - has awarded the Douglas Annin Award to company co-founder and chief technology officer Sokwoo Rhee.

The Douglas H. Annin Award, established in 1985, recognizes an outstanding achievement in the design or development of components of an automatic control system from the input measurement through the final control element. The award is in honor of Douglas H. Annin, a pioneer in modern-day control valve actuation and control valve body design.

Rhee received the award for the design and development of a self-organizing wireless sensor network system. The Millennial Net network system’s ultra-small and ultra-low-power i-Bean® modules allow instrumentation and sensing devices to connect and communicate over self-organizing networks. This enables customer to monitor and manage their sensor networks remotely, and provides data for more informed decision making, better control, and increased revenue opportunities.

"The ISA is committed to the advancement of automation and control technologies and these awards are part of our effort to spearhead technical advances throughout the industry," said Lowell McCaw, president of ISA. "Sokwoo’s work has contributed to the emergence of wireless as a major force in the industry."

"Sokwoo’s groundbreaking research has opened up a whole new area of opportunity for anyone involved in instrumentation and sensing applications," said Andy May, president and chief executive officer at Millennial Net. "The Millennial Net wireless sensor networking platform, based on Sokwoo’s innovations, enables new networks to be deployed that were not possible before due to location or wiring constraints. In addition, a new class of information – sensor data – can be integrated into enterprise applications and management systems for better decision making."

"The ISA plays a key leadership role in the instrumentation and automation industry,” added Rhee. “It is a tremendous honor to receive this award."

The award will be presented at the ISA’s annual 2004 Honors and Awards gala on October 4, 2004 at the Hilton Americas-Houston Hotel in Houston, Texas. This awards ceremony is held in conjunction with ISA Expo 2004.
