CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – July 29, 2003 – Millennial Net, Inc., the leading developer of hardware and software for self-organizing, wireless sensor networks, today announced the expansion of its management team with the appointment of Aref Matin as vice president of engineering. In this position, Matin will drive the execution of Millennial Net's hardware and software development roadmap and scale the company's manufacturing capabilities to meet the variety of high-volume customer implementations that the company currently supports. "Aref is a dynamic addition to the management team. We found in him a unique combination of engineering and implementation expertise that will be crucial to ensuring that Millennial Net's technology continues to provide practical, real-world solutions," said Tod Riedel, co-founder and president of Millennial Net. "His demonstrated technical leadership and broad hands-on industry experience will have an immediate and measurable impact on our customers' implementations and success." Matin has more than 20 years of engineering and management experience providing leadership and drive to multi-disciplinary technology teams around the world. He has held senior management positions at Siemens AG, Juniper Networks (formerly Unisphere Networks) and Cratos Networks. As vice president of software development at Juniper Networks, Matin delivered an innovative and award-winning network management and Internet protocol (IP) service management suite of software products. Earlier in his career Matin held key roles in the areas of data networking, broadband engineering and product management at AT&T Business Communications Services and AT&T Bell Laboratories. He also managed sophisticated implementations of private networks for Fortune 500 enterprises in the retail and banking industries.
