Millennial Net Appoints Neil Ferris to Board of Directors

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.—June 30, 2003—Millennial Net, Inc., the leading developer of self-organizing wireless sensor networks, today announced the addition of Neil Ferris to its board of directors. Ferris joins Millennial Net's board with more than 25 years of high-technology leadership and expertise taking entrepreneurial companies to the next level and helping them achieve their full potential.

Holding the top post at several companies over the span of his career, Ferris has overseen a number of successful mergers including Novell's acquisition of Fluent, where he was a founder and chief executive officer. He also helped engineer the successful merger of Netscheme Solutions with Actuate Software during his tenure as chief executive officer at Netscheme. In 1998, he became president and chief executive officer of Giganet, a leading provider of network solutions, that was acquired by Emulex Corporation for an estimated $650 million. Earlier in his career he held senior management positions in the early stages of Data General and was a founding member of Apollo Computer.

"Neil's track record as a successful technology industry entrepreneur and executive with a proven ability to translate the business benefits of emerging technologies speaks for itself," said Tod Riedel, president and co-founder of Millennial Net. "He will be a tremendous asset to the company as we grow our business with our key customers and move forward with critical strategic partnerships."

Ferris joins current Millennial Net board members Ullas Naik of Globespan Capital, Mike O'Neill of Kodiak Venture Partners, John Simon of General Catalyst and Tod Riedel of Millennial Net.

"Millennial Net's vision of a world in which wireless sensor networks support myriad applications is a compelling one," said Ferris. "With an exceptionally talented management team and developed product, Millennial Net is poised to become the de facto provider of practical solutions for the wireless sensor networking market. This board position is an exciting opportunity to help guide such a promising enterprise."

Millennial Net recently launched the latest version of its ultra-small, ultra-low power wireless sensor networking device, the i-Bean 5000. The company has already received industry accolades for its technology, winning a Best of Sensors Award at Sensor Expo 2003, held early this month in Rosemont, IL.
